Having spent a winter working behind the bar at Coco Rico in Tignes, I've experienced the resort from both sides of the bar. From long afternoons on sunny terraces to late nights in Val Claret's bars and clubs, Tignes offers some of the best après ski and nightlife in the French Alps.

Best Après Ski Bars in Tignes

    La Folie Douce

No guide to après ski in Tignes would be complete without mentioning La Folie Douce. Located on the Val d'Isère side of the Tignes-Val d'Isère ski area, it's one of the most famous mountain party venues in the Alps. The name says it all, the sweet madness.

Expect live performers, world-class DJs, dancers and plenty of champagne spraying as skiers gather on the terrace throughout the afternoon. If you're looking for a big mountain party atmosphere, this is the place to be.

The food is excellent too, with several restaurant options and VIP areas available for those fancying a splurge.

Insider tip: Keep an eye on the time. Missing the last lift back to Tignes can make for an expensive taxi ride home.

    Le Bollin

For a slightly more relaxed après ski experience, Le Bollin is a great option. Conveniently located at the top of the Bollin chairlift above Val Claret, it's the perfect place to stop on your way back down the mountain.

What often starts as a leisurely lunch can quickly turn into an impromptu afternoon party as the music turns up and the drinks start flowing. It's less intense than La Folie Douce but still delivers plenty of atmosphere.

    Coco Rico

Having spent a season working behind the bar here, I can confidently say that Coco Rico is one of the beating hearts of après ski in Tignes.

Located at the foot of the slopes in Val Claret, Coco Rico comes alive from around 4:30pm each day. Live bands get the crowd going before DJs take over later in the evening, staying open until 8.30pm. Expect dancing on tables, singalongs, plenty of energy and a lively crowd made up of holidaymakers, ski instructors and seasonnaires alike.

There are VIP areas available if you're celebrating a special occasion, but most people are there simply for the atmosphere.

Insider tip: Arrive early to watch the live bands.

    Loop Bar

Situated beside the Tovière lift in Tignes Le Lac, Loop Bar is one of the most popular all-day venues in resort.

Its south-facing terrace makes it a favourite on sunny afternoons, while live music, sports screenings and regular themed events keep the atmosphere lively throughout the week. You can expect live music from the Queens of the Snow Stage. Their themed nights are legendary, from Cold Fizzy Music Bingo to happy hour on jugs of beer.

It's a great option if your group wants somewhere relaxed enough for a drink after skiing but lively enough to keep the evening going.

    Brasero

If you're staying in Le Lavachet, Brasero is one of the best spots for a relaxed après ski drink. Located in the heart of the village, it's known for its sunny terrace, friendly atmosphere and excellent location right by the piste.

Unlike some of the bigger après ski venues, Brasero has a more laid-back feel. You'll often find live music, sport on the screens and a mix of holidaymakers and seasonnaires enjoying a few drinks before dinner. It's the sort of place where one drink can easily turn into a few more as the afternoon rolls on.

    Lo Terrachu

One of the resort's best-kept secrets, Lo Terrachu sits beside the lake in Tignes Le Lac and offers a completely different atmosphere to the larger après ski venues.

During March and April, its sun terrace becomes one of the best spots in resort for enjoying a drink in the afternoon sunshine. The bar regularly hosts themed evenings, live music and local events, making it a favourite with seasonnaires.

If you're staying in one of our catered chalets, it's always worth asking your hosts what's happening there during your week. There's often something interesting on the calendar.

    The Marmot Arms

If you're looking for a traditional pub atmosphere, The Marmot Arms is a great choice.

Located in Tignes Le Lac, it offers a warm and friendly environment, making it ideal for groups wanting a few drinks after dinner without committing to a full night out. Expect live sport, good conversation and a welcoming atmosphere.

Best Bars in Tignes for Evening Drinks

    Rangas

Rangas is one of the best evening venues in Val Claret and a popular meeting point before heading on to the clubs.

With pool tables, darts, beer pong, table tennis, live music and regular events, it offers a fun and social atmosphere without feeling too serious. It's particularly popular with younger groups and seasonnaires looking for a lively night out.

    Blue Girl nightclub Tignes

    Blue Girl

When the bars start winding down, many people head to Blue Girl in Val Claret.

Small, lively and packed with character, it's one of the most popular late-night venues in resort. Expect DJs, a busy dance floor and a crowd made up of skiers, seasonnaires and hospitality staff all enjoying their evening after work.

It's not glamorous, but that's part of the appeal.

    Avant Garde

Located directly opposite Blue Girl, Avant Garde is another popular late-night venue that keeps the party going into the early hours.

The music varies throughout the season, but you can generally expect a lively atmosphere and a crowd looking to dance long after the lifts have closed.

    Final Thoughts

One of the things that makes Tignes such a great ski destination is that the fun doesn't stop when the lifts close. Whether you're looking for high-energy après ski, a relaxed drink in the sun, live music, or late-night dancing, there's something for every type of skier.

And if you're staying in one of our catered chalets in Tignes, our resort team will always be happy to point you towards the best events happening during your stay. After all, the best nights out are often the ones you didn't plan.
