Looking for a large catered ski chalet in France? BuildMySkiTrip operates sole-occupancy catered chalets for larger families, friendship groups and corporate groups across Val d’Isère, Tignes, Val Thorens and Alpe d’Huez, with options for groups of up to 28 guests.
For a large group, the headline capacity is only part of the decision. The right chalet also needs the right number of bedrooms and bathrooms, enough space to spend time together, practical access to the slopes and a location that works for different skiing abilities. This guide compares some of our strongest large-group chalets and explains the details that are worth considering before you book.

Find the right chalet for your group
Start with the size of your group, then compare bedroom layouts, location and the features that matter most.
These are some of our strongest options for larger groups. The best choice depends on your dates, bedroom requirements and priorities rather than capacity alone.
| Chalet | Resort | Sleeps | Bedrooms | Why consider it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bonhomme | Val Thorens | 28 | 12 | Our largest & highest-altitude chalet |
| Chardonnet | Tignes | 19 | 7 + 2 pods | Luxury chalet, cinema/games room & spa |
| Arolla | Tignes | 18 | 7 | Ski-in/ski-out, cinema, spa & internal lift |
| Sarire | Val d’Isère | 16 | 7 | Separate annex, hot tub & driver service |
| Artayma | Tignes | 15 | 7 | Private spa & panoramic piste views |
| Diane | Alpe d’Huez | 15 | 7 | Seven en-suite bedrooms & excellent ski access |
| Armoise | Tignes | 14 | 7 | Great-value seven-bedroom option with hot tub |
| Mélusine | Alpe d’Huez | 14 | 7 | Standalone chalet, outstanding views, hot tub & sauna |
Our advice: don’t choose a chalet purely by the maximum number it sleeps. For adult groups in particular, the number of proper twin/double bedrooms and bathrooms can matter far more than squeezing in one or two extra guests.
Chalet Arolla in Tignes is our standout ski-in/ski-out option for larger groups, sleeping up to 18 guests.

Tignes · sleeps up to 18
Arolla combines direct ski access with seven bedrooms, a cinema room and a gorgeous spa area with jacuzzi, sauna and hammam.
The internal lift makes moving between floors easier for guests with reduced mobility. If anyone in your group has specific access requirements, speak to us before booking so we can confirm exactly how the chalet will work for them.
VIEW CHALET AROLLAGroups of 14 or 15 have a particularly good choice across our collection, including options in Tignes, Alpe d’Huez and Val d’Isère.

Tignes · 15 guests · 7 en-suite bedrooms
A luxury chalet with panoramic piste views, generous open-plan living space and a private spa area with hot tub and sauna. A strong choice when the group wants seven proper en-suite bedrooms without sacrificing the social spaces.

Alpe d’Huez · sleeps 14 · 7 bedrooms
A standalone chalet with outstanding mountain views, seven bedrooms, a private hot tub and sauna — ideal if the group values privacy and somewhere special to relax after skiing.
View Mélusine →Prefer Val d’Isère? We also have four chalets there that work well for groups of around 14–15. Availability and bedroom layouts vary, so view our Val d’Isère chalets or send us your group details and we’ll shortlist the suitable options.
For groups of 16–19, Sarire in Val d’Isère and Arolla and Chardonnet in Tignes are among our largest options.

Val d’Isère · sleeps 16 · 7 bedrooms

Tignes · sleeps 18 · 7 bedrooms
A luxury ski-in/ski-out choice with seven bedrooms, cinema room, internal lift and a spa area with jacuzzi, sauna and hammam.
View Arolla →Yes. Chalet Bonhomme in Val Thorens sleeps up to 28 guests across 12 en-suite bedrooms, making it our largest and highest-altitude chalet.

Val Thorens · sleeps up to 28 · 12 en-suite bedrooms
Bonhomme is set across three floors, with ten twin/double rooms plus two rooms that can sleep four. Its huge living and dining room gives a group of this size somewhere to genuinely spend time together.
For friendship groups, extended families or corporate groups, keeping everybody under one roof means one place to meet after skiing, one dining table and no need to coordinate between several apartments.
VIEW CHALET BONHOMMELarge-group booking support
We operate and staff our own catered chalets, so you are booking directly with the team running the holiday. For the person organising the group, we can also take a lot of the admin off your hands.
Guests can make their own payments towards the booking, so the group organiser does not have to collect everybody’s money.
Before you travel, you can speak with our Logistics Manager to run through the practical arrangements and make sure the key details are in place.
We can help arrange private or shared airport transfers, rather than leaving everyone to coordinate transport independently.
We work with ski schools and hire companies our team knows and has used for years, and can help arrange lessons and equipment through those trusted local partners.
Discuss dietary requirements, food preferences and fussier eaters with our Logistics Manager. If needed, we can also arrange a call with the chef looking after your chalet so everything can be planned in advance.
Our catered chalets are sole occupancy, so your group has the chalet privately for the week together with its own BuildMySkiTrip chalet team.
For the group organiser, that means less admin: individual payments, one team to speak to and help coordinating the main parts of the holiday before you travel.
Capacity is only the starting point. These are the details we would look at when helping a large group choose between chalets and resorts.
Look beyond maximum occupancy. Check how many proper twin/double bedrooms there are, whether rooms are en-suite and whether the maximum capacity relies on bunk beds, mezzanines or extra beds.
Decide whether true ski-in/ski-out is essential or whether a short walk, resort shuttle or driver service works just as well for your group.
Think about how easily beginners, intermediates and stronger skiers can meet during the day. Some popular mountain restaurants and après-ski bars are accessed via pistes that beginners may not feel comfortable skiing, so lift access, pedestrian access and sensible meeting points can make a big difference.
Some groups want bars, restaurants and shops on the doorstep; others want peace and quiet. Think about what different members of the group will want to do once they finish skiing as well as during the day.
For a large group, the lounge and dining area matter just as much as the bedrooms. Hot tubs, saunas, cinema rooms and separate living spaces can also be particularly useful when not everybody wants to ski all day.
Families and mixed groups should consider where ski school meets, how easy equipment hire is and how the whole party will get to resort. We can help organise lessons, equipment and transfers through partners we know and trust.
Your catered chalet service
A standard week includes seven nights of private chalet accommodation and six days of chalet service from a dedicated chef and hosts.
We take real pride in both our chalets and the food we serve. In this video, Laurence, a Director of BuildMySkiTrip, explains our approach to fresh in-chalet catering, dedicated chefs and the role our Logistics Manager plays before guests arrive.
Yes — discuss dietary requirements and food preferences with our Logistics Manager before you travel. If needed, we can also arrange a call with the chef looking after your chalet so the catering can be planned in advance. Younger guests can have a dedicated children’s menu too.
For a large group, catering also removes a huge amount of work: no supermarket shop for the whole party, no cooking rota and no nightly hunt for a restaurant table large enough for everybody.
DISCOVER OUR CATERINGYour group has the entire chalet privately rather than booking individual rooms alongside other guests.
For a large group, that means one shared base for the week: eat together, relax together and come back to the same lounge and dining room after skiing.

There is no single right resort for every large group. The best choice depends on group size, ski access, nightlife, family logistics and the chalet availability for your dates.
Strong choice for 14–19
Armoise, Artayma, Arolla and Chardonnet give us a particularly strong concentration of larger chalets, including luxury and ski-in/ski-out options.

Start with your travel dates, number of guests and number of bedrooms required. You can browse our chalet collection by date, or send those details to our team and we can shortlist the large chalets that are actually available and suitable.
For groups of 16–20+ there are naturally fewer properties that can keep everyone together. If your dates are flexible, it can be easier to find the suitable available chalet first and choose the resort afterwards.
VIEW CHALET AVAILABILITY ASK OUR TEAM
The larger the group, the earlier we recommend beginning your search — particularly for Christmas, New Year, February half term and Easter. The pool of suitable properties shrinks quickly once you add requirements such as seven or more bedrooms, ski-in/ski-out access or a specific resort.
Send us four things: your dates, number of guests, bedrooms required and your top two or three priorities.
“16 guests · 7 bedrooms · February · hot tub · easy piste access” tells us far more than simply “a chalet for 16”, and lets us shortlist the options that genuinely work for your group.
